Rennes to 1h25 from Paris
Since 2 July 2017, Rennes has been a little closer to Paris. The space time has been considerably reduced: the Breton capital is 1h25 from Paris.
Located at 5 minutes from Rennes train station, the Hotel Kyriad Rennes south welcomes you in its 3 *** hotel, for your escapades, your seminars or others in Breton lands.
With the advent of the LGV (High Speed Line), we are tempted to say and to believe as Emmanuel Couet, President of Rennes Métropole that "all Brittany is closer to Paris". But it works in both directions, Paris is closer to Rennes. For the purpose is an intensification of the flows, both economically and in terms of tourism, of the mobility of our teachers-researchers and of all the inhabitants of the whole territory.
This investment of nearly 8 billion euros will have required to build 24 viaducts and 7 tunnels necessary to reduce the journey time to only two hours for this link. For memory, in 1857, it took 10 hours for the first Paris-Rennes train to arrive in Brittany, then 3h in 1968 with the electrification of the line, then another 2h04 in 1989 with the TGV OUEST.
A project that will benefit all territories
The opening of the LGV (High Speed Line) will benefit the whole of Brittany, with time savings of 40 to 45 minutes on average. The Rennes - Brest and Rennes - Quimper lines can be saved in time, but also with time slots designed to maximize travel time.
A great opportunity to stay and visit Rennes and its rich cultural and artistic heritage, Saint-Malo and its corsair city and its seaside resort, the Mont Saint-Michel, etc...
